Maticks
Should i replace an NVME Cache Drive based on wear or let it die? I have two disks the one that the longest in here is the Intel SSDPEKKW256G7 lifetime writes for the drive are 140TB. Smart has marked the Drive as failed based on its wear indicator. As you can see it has done a bit more than 140TB. Not had a disk fail in a BTRFS before is it better to replace it before it dies? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Device is currently at 114% estimated life, I believe some Intel SSDs went read only when they reach 100% expected life, so looks like it's not the case with that model, I would just keep using it, I have one NVMe device currently at 180% expected life (1.05PB written) and still going strong, just make sure you have up to date backups. ConnerVT
My server has an old Kingston HyperX 3K. How old? It was the boot drive for my Windows XP daily driver PC. Been in several desktops and laptops since then. I use it as for the transcoding shares of my Plex and Unmanic dockers. Might as well run it until it dies, and in the mean time, it is fast and keeps the wear off my primary cache drive. Quote Link to comment
