May 23, 20224 yr Hello there! I was browsing the documentation about the flash drive's folders and I came across this page https://wiki.unraid.net/Files_on_v6_boot_drive . I saw the folder ` /extra - optional; any packages here will be automatically installed at boot ` but I can't find any documentation about it. I wish to use to included binaries of my own and 3rd party ones (like small utility tools). Does anyone know how this folder works ? I've seen one the v5 doc that it should contains .tgz archive, but nothing more. Thanks !
May 23, 20224 yr The v5 docs should still be valid. Not particularly recommended to use this, but it's your choice

May 23, 20224 yr Solution They should be Slackware packaged builds, like what NERD utils typically uses, that can be used with "installpkg" / "upgradepkg" commands.
May 23, 20224 yr But keep in mind slackware, and by extension Unraid, doesn't do automatic package version management, so it's up to you to keep on top of versioning and conflicts. You can easily cripple your server if you aren't careful. If you have issues with your server and want help troubleshooting, you will need to remove or rename all the modifications you have done before we can help.
January 6, 20242 yr Is the extra folder going to continue to be supported? I want to switch over from using some plugins to just dropping the packages in on boot. But I don't want to switch if it's gonna be unsupported soon.
