frozen system with text across the monitor connected to box

Featured Replies

Hi,

First I want to say that I am very happy and impressed with UnRaid. I am glad that I chose UnRaid over any other 'raid' utility.

I have a monitor connected directly to my UnRaid box with text sort of going diagonally across and with the text: "exportfs: and shares:/mnt/disk1  and  data:/mnt/disk1  and  data:/mnt/disk2  and  exportfs: duplicate export entries"

I saw this once before a long while back and just powered down. I restarted the box at that point but now I am at this point again. Before I power down, where I have to hold the power button in to force it down, I want to know if there is something I can do instead of forcing it down. What does this mean and how can I avoid this from happening again? Obviously, I cannot telnet or connect to any port.

I suspect I will have to look at the syslog or better yet post it.

I apologize for not having my hardware info, I will have to get it and keep it in my signature for the  future.

Any ideas or clues?

Thanks,

Camel

This just happened to me too tonight for the first time.  I rebooted and it wasn't recongnizing one of my drives.  I rebooted again and now it works fine.

I don't remember what the text said something about one of my share folders

Yes, I restarted by killing the power, my only option, and all is well. I will have to look at the syslog and hope I can decipher something there.

Don't waste your time!  The live syslog is held in ram and only copied to the flash drive on a clean shutdown - since you killed the power, there simply will be no record of the failed session.

Base unRAID does not EVER save the syslog, even on a clean shutdown.  If you have the powerdown package installed via unMenu then a syslog will be saved to the flash drive on a powerdown.

I do have the powerdown package installed. Does that mean if I have my 'power button' on the box set to power down that it will save the syslog? Though, I do not think that action would have worked in this case. I was able to get through to port 89 but I could not invoke any of the menus on the left. I thought it was interesting that the page came up.

Thanks for the replies.

So long as the server is not hard frozen when the power button is pressed and you have the powerdown package installed the log will be saved, or at least an attempt to save the log will be made.
