j5428 Posted June 1, 2011 Share Posted June 1, 2011 Just wondering if anyone can recommend a motherboard/processor combo for an esxi whitebox server that will do vmdirectpath? Also has to use ddr3 non-ecc memory. Trying to stay around $350-$400. Thanks for any recommendations. Link to comment
gfjardim Posted June 1, 2011 Share Posted June 1, 2011 You will have to stick with AMD AM3 processors and 890FX motherboards, like Asus Crosshair IV. I don't see why not go with e.g. Supermicro X9SCM-F and a E3 Xeon processor, ECC unbuffered memory are just a few bucks more expensive, but you will have server class hardware. Link to comment
