Guest Agent Problems

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with two VMs. First one seems to work ok, however the libvert log says:

"2022-08-09 07:27:59.849+0000: 4597: warning : qemuDomainObjTaintMsg:6602 : Domain id=1 name='Dads Computer' uuid=be0a9c36-576b-730b-ae95-05796ce821d1 is tainted: custom-ga-command
2022-08-09 07:27:59.912+0000: 4595: error : qemuDomainAgentAvailable:8610 : Guest agent is not responding: QEMU guest agent is not connected"

The second VM boots to windows login, after logging in I get a black screen. I don't think this is an NVIDIA problem because when I shut down the VM it display the "shuting down" and cart wheel of dots.  I've tried:

  • Fresh install of Windows 10, however, after installing the virt stor drivers windows reboots then starts services then gets stuck on "Getting Devices Ready" with the cart wheel of dots.
  • Set VM to one CPU core
  • Tried a fresh Windows 10.iso
  • Made a copy of a working VMs vdisk and now able to boot into VNC

However, both the old VM with a black screen and the new duplicate of a working VM give the same error message in the VM log:

"xl_send_events: spice-server bug: guest stopped, ignoring"

I think all my problems relate to the Guest Agent which I know nothing about.

Having similar issues... I'm running Home Assistant in a VM. 1 CPU is at 100% all the time...

Hi all, did anyone get this resolved?

I get the same problem on my VM. Works fine for hours and then suddenly i get this in the logs
Domain id=1 is tainted: custom-ga-command

and i can no longer remote onto the vm or restart it from the unraid web gui. I need to do a force stop and start to get it working again.

Thanks,

G.

Which version are you on an can you post logs?

This will no longer show in 6.11.2+

What in earth does this tainted message mean? I'm sorry getting "domain id=1 is tainted custom-ga-command" at the end of the log. I can no longer access my Home Assistant server.

This started happening about 30 minutes ago on 6.11.2 when I noticed I had no access to my HA server I saw the unRAID notification to upgrade which I've done, and I'm still getting the same message in the log.

Can anyone explain what this message means? I've never come across it before so I have no idea where to start. I found this thread coz I did a Google search.

Thanks guys and girls.

Here is my diagnostic zip. I think I'm getting old coz I've been trying to read it on my phone but I can't see it lol

Yeah, message about missing guest command is solved now. Issues I had with VM's:

VM Hard reset randomly - WS2022 Standard (seems that it's mostly solved)

Network issues with agregated ethernet br0 in VM's = unstable network, random packet loss, only some packets are going trough (I think it's present only when you have more than 1 VM running) virbr0 does not have issues.

Which version of the virtio drivers are you using?

I am installing older one, 0.1.215-2, I had lot issues installing other versions. They just rollback always.
