After Pre-Clearing...

Featured Replies

Good day all,

I am having a brain freeze and reading the forum is only adding to the fog! :) I have a small 4TB that I pre-cleared and it finished with no errors. I want to be able to mount it in the Unassigned Devices. The mount button is greyed out and my only option is to pre-clear again. What am I missing?

A pre-cleared disk has no file system.   It needs to be partitioned and formatted before it can be mounted.

Thank you for your quick response, how do I go about formatting the  disk?

You can do it in using UD, but you have to enable destructive mode in the plugin’s settings to be offered this option.

I enabled and I get a new red X (Clear Disk).  When I click on it, it gives me a pop up window. See attached.

UD Preclear writes a disk signature and partition so that the disk is ready for Unraid.  To format it for UD, you will need to clear the disk as you have shown above.  You can then format the disk with UD.
