I'm at the end of my abilities to figure this out here. I think the issue is pretty simple, i just can't figure it out. 

 

The symptoms:

What looks like smb restarting constantly and crashing

My shares are now a list of ALL my movies folder. 

Aside from that bad filename (which isn't even there anymore) in the log

Seems like a weird linking issue - just can't diagnose it.

I've tried deleting all the shares from the usb. They just get repopulated.

Bizarrely, yes.  LS'ing /mnt/user is all the real shares and what should be content of the Movies directory. I can see the files correctly by ls on the /mnt/diskX/Media/Movies. That's where I'm saying the linking is at issue. the files are in the correct directory, just that the link to the user folder is wacky
