bad SMB Performance 2,5GBit direct connected Mac

Recommended Posts

I have a CalDigit Docking with 2,5GBit connected direct to my unRAID Server (i7 6700 3,4GHz, 2,5GBit Card) but the SMB Performance is really bad.
I only get around 5-30MB per second with cache and without.
I did some tweaking like reconstructive mode / flow control off - but it is really bad.
I did purchase a Asustor out of panic - and there I get on the same connection 250MB per second. So the Mac should't be the problem.

It could be the LAN Card or unRAID. I have JumboFrames on 9000 on both sides but still very poor performance.

Does anyone have a tip for me?

If the performance would be around 250MB per second (with Cache SSD) it would be fine for me but otherwise I will shutdown unRAID an use the Ausustor NAS 6700 6Bay which is quite impressive and fast.
But I do love unRAID...

I coud probable run unRAID off of the Ausustor NAS to test out.

did you tried enable "Enable SMB Multi Channel" and "Enhanced macOS interoperability" in the SMB settings ?

you can also ad these little tricks in SMB EXTRA :

#performance tweak
[global]
   veto files = /._*/Thumbs.db/.DS_Store/
   min protocol = SMB3
   aio read size = 1
   aio write size = 1
   use sendfile = yes
   nt acl support = no
