Suse User
My Server has a surge protected socket, but after the 3rd power cut in 4 days (they're not usually this common) I've decided I really do need a UPS. Todays outage was only 15 seconds but enough to cause a 470 minute parity chack for the 3rd time this week. So what do I need to buy? My Server has:- 17" CRT Screen 650W PSU Modest VGA Card 1 Gb Ram Celeron 3.2ghz 12 X IDE HDD 2 X Promise Controller Card What would be an adequate UPS power to go for? I'm not sure what is reasonable to expect from a UPS, an hour? 30 Minutes? If possible I'd like to choose a make/type that could be compatible with any future UnRaid facility for a clean & safe shutdown script on power loss, so hopefully something fairly default in its command set. UnRaid shutting down properly on power loss is my preferred goal, 2 of this weeks power cuts were many hours and I wasn't here so I don't think a UPS would have kept the system alive, despite all the drives being spun down. Hmmm, there's a thought..... with all the drives spun down why does a parity check need to take place on power loss? Any recommendations on a decent UPS? Thanks, Mark. Quote Link to comment
teamhood
So anyone care to share which UPS they are using? I was going to ask the same question, but I see that there is already a thread created. Is there any way that the UPS will shut down the UnRaid server if power if out?? Thank you -Mike Quote Link to comment

foo_fighter
Any update on which UPS models work with unraid? I'm thinking of getting a cyberpower ups from Fry's since it has serial and usb outputs. Quote Link to comment
