Unraid crashes every day

Featured Replies

Hi all,

my Unraid drives me crazy and I can't figure out where the problem is. It crashes randomly every day - sometimes in the morning, somethimes in the evening.

What have I tried to find the problem:

- swaped the SSD

- swaped the RAM

- tried another NIC

- tried nearly every BIOS setting

- tried macvlan and ipvlan for Docker

- get rid of unnecessary Dockers and VMs

- swaped the complete NUC to a new one

So I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue. And also when I install plain Ubuntu on the system with some docker container everything runs fine.

Any advice what the problem can be? The last crash was around 20:00 Dec13.

Thanks in advance

Sebastian

Nothing relevant logged, try blacklisting the iGPU driver, it has been know to cause issues for some, one more thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.

Hello Jorge,

thanks for your answer. I'll give it a try. To be sure to blacklist the driver correctly:

- I generate a new file /boot/config/modprobe.d/i915.conf

- then put the line "blacklist i915" in it

- install the Intel GPU TOP plugin

Is this correct?

Yes, not sure about the plugin.

Short feedback. I bought a HDMI dummy plug and installed the Intel GPU TOP plugin. This seems to do the trick. I have now 15 days without crash.

Thank you for pointing me to the integrated graphics.
