Toobie
Hi there, I recently changed my server hardware, so I swaped all my old drives into a new server. Now Unraid flags an old existing drive with full of stuff as "Unmountable: Unsupported partition layout" (ignore the last two, these are new into this bild) What is the best way to have the files from this drive back wocking in Unraid? Format and the parity disk will restore everything? Or I mean, the hdd is fine, so there I dont know why this should be unmountable? Regards in advance Toobie. Quote Link to comment

If you format you will erase the content of the drive (and parity will be updated to reflect an empty file system). The correct handling of unmountable array drives is covered here in the online documentation. 1 Quote Link to comment

Format is never used when you want to recover data, assuming parity is valid you can stop the array, unassign disk5, start the array with the disk unassigned and post new diags. Quote Link to comment

Parity is/was valid. Attached the diagnostic file. t30.unraid-diagnostics-20221228-1620.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Unraid recreate the partition layout and the emulated disk is mounting, if contents look correct you can just rebuild on top. Quote Link to comment

Solution JorgeB Posted December 28, 2022 Solution Share Posted December 28, 2022 If the emulated disk contents look correct stop the array, re-assign disk5, start array to begin the rebuild. Quote Link to comment
itimpi
You can find the instructions for rebuilding a drive onto itself here in the online documentation accessible via the ‘Manual’ link at the bottom of the GUI or the DOCS link at the top of each forum page. Quote Link to comment
