January 30, 20233 yr Community Expert Probably the best way to check the health of the drive is to run an Extended SMART test. That is internal to the drive and thus not affected by SATA cabling issues (although bad power could cause it to fail).

Nothing in logs.

January 30, 20233 yr Community Expert SMART report says no self-tests have been run Could be a bad disk, certainly lots of syslog entries about it. You could try to put it in another machine and run manufacturer's tests on it.
January 30, 20233 yr Author homeserver-diagnostics-20230129-1911.zipThe smart test was done after the last diagnostics. Here are the diagnostics post successful smart test.

January 30, 20233 yr Author I swapped the cable and the port and it came back no problem, but still doesnt let me assign it as parity and gets kicked back to unassigned devices.
January 30, 20233 yr Author And now the drive won't give me the green circle no matter what, even after reboots.
January 30, 20233 yr Community Expert Wonder if this isn't UUID problem, but didn't see that in earlier diagnostics. Post new diagnostics
January 30, 20233 yr Community Expert Try booting in SAFE mode just to make sure some plugin isn't to blame
August 11, 20232 yr Author I don't want to necro this, but I want to post my solution to those that may be having a problem similar and are searching via google or something My solution was to buy a more powerful power supply since my drives and graphics card were drawing too much power for my power supply to handle and were getting disconnected.
