Sabnzbd - Unpacking optimize

Featured Replies

any tips how to optimize Unpacking & Repair tools from Sabnzbd to speed it up and faster?

What are your hardware specs?  Both unpacking and repairing are CPU intensive.

The amount of RAM you have will help but unpacking and repairing is still very much CPU intensive.  If you installed the package using my unMenu .conf file then you have the multi-core version of par2.

I would say that the issue lies with your CPU... not much you can do about that.

Not 100% certain it makes any difference or is being use correctly, but under Extra PAR2 Parameters in SABnzbd, I added "-t0", which, IIRC, forces par2 to use all available cores.

Or, run nzbget. SABnzbd is a CPU hog on lower end machines (like the N36L) because it runs under python, an interpreted language. When unpacking, it can cause stuttering when playing a Blu-ray from a different drive (unacceptable to me).

nzbget doesn't do that because it's written in C and highly optimised for low-end CPUs and low RAM. Par2 repairs are single core, but it only scans files once, so isn't necessarily any slower. SABnzbd has to scan all the files twice during a repair.

My nzbget install guide (tech heavy, not for n00bs) is in my sig.
