New hardware a simple switch?

Recommended Posts

Sorry, i couldn't find an answer in the faq or somewhere else.
If there is a howto or something similar, please close/delete this and point me to it.

There have been some issues in the recent past, so i decided to switch hardware. (just Motherboard CPU and RAM)
From my understanding there should be no trouble at all, simply changing hardware, building the array exactly as it was and telling the config the parity drive allready is valid. or maybe, the drives will be set correctly already? (but i doubt that as the sata controllers and Ports will be changed)

Am i wrong on this? The license is, as i understood it, tied to the USB-Stick and nothing else!?

as bonus questions, i'd like to change parity drive as well and switch to SSD , but i am not fixated on using it as a parity drive, most likely all drives will switch to ssd sooner or later anyway, what are the up- and downsides doing it to the parity first?

You don't need to tell anything, just boot the existing USB with the new hardware, all array/pool devices should be correctly identified, assuming no RAID controllers in use, VMs might need some adjustments if you are passing-through any devices.
