Won't boot

I've done it this time. 

 

I rebooted my array from the unraid UI while the the array was stopping (it was stuck). When the server powered back on, unraid won't load up. It's stuck on a black screen with a blinking underscore. Is there anything I can do?

Looks like a flash problem, or it's not attempting to boot from the flash drive.

I'm using a high quality Samsung drive, about 1 year old. I don't have a flash back (regret). Is there a way I can recover what's on the current flash and move it to a new one? Could it be as simple as copying and pasting to a new drive? I imagine if it's a corruption problem using the old drive wouldn't work.

Put the flash drive in a PC and see if you can copy the /config folder, that's all you need.

I have a similar problem.  The config folder looks empty, even with 'view hidden' on.  Oh, no, check that, the config folder is now completely missing.  I tried booting into safe mode, but it would'nt go past bios without coming up boot failure. Put the usb stick back into my windows machine and it says there's a problem with your usb drive.  I press yes to fix problems.  Now usb only has efi folder left and a bunch of files.  We're going from bad to worse.  What next!?  how do I keep license for next attempt, there is a license.txt, but it has nothing in it.

You can try re-formatting that flash drive or transfer the key to a new one, if there's no backup you can use this to recover the array:

An update on my situation, it really was as simple as the pc not booting from the flash drive. Who knows how the bios changed, but glad it was an easy fix. Thanks JorgeB for the advice!

I had a similar issue and it took some time with reboots and shuffling the flash drive around, but finally it booted.

 

Is your BIOS set to UEFI boot?  Mine is, I think I need to change it to legacy.

not sure off the top of my head, but it's working at the moment and getting back to bios is a bit of a hassle with my headless system. If I ever have another issue with it I'll come back to this.
