Bit of pre put gaze advice about Pci adapters for nvme drives.

Featured Replies

I'm trying to shrink my nas profile space. I want to see if a PCI card adaptor that holds 4 x M. 2. Will unraid drivers see the card and use the drives as its in a pci slot or do I have to use standard SSD's.

My main board has 4 pci slots, so I can upgrade over a month or two. So I would like to use the adapter over loose drives.

Im kind of an unraid noob so I'll be asking for help in transferring the data on mechanical to the new SSD's.

Thanks in advance

Unraid can use SSD in PCIe slots as I have one in my server that supports a SATA m2 SSD and a NVME SSD.   Whether that card will work on your hardware I have no idea, but no obvious reason why it should not.

That should work as long as your board supports x4/x4/x4/x4 PCIe bifurcation for the slot you wan to use it in.
