B1G
Nice build ! Was it difficult to change the fans on the Icy Docks? Quote Link to comment
funbubba
Awesome build! You realize now I must have that rug. Quote Link to comment
jamerson9
Very clean and nice build. Its pretty enough to have a place in your living room. Though, if your name was Manuel, it would have made my day. Quote Link to comment
xbonell
Thanks for the replies! About replacing the Icy-Dock fans: The original fans don't use standard connectors, so replacing them involves: - Unsoldering the wires of the original fans - Replacing the fan - Soldering the new fan power wires to the connector in the plastic cage In my case I found that the fans that I chose triggered the Icy-Dock's Fan Fail alarm, even when the fans appeared to be running normal. That's probably because the new fan's RPM is lower than the original one's. To disable the alarm I had to bend the connectors not used by the power wires (see the picture). Not the best solution but its working. P.D. All the credit for the rug goes to Ikea Quote Link to comment
xbonell
Though, if your name was Manuel, it would have made my day. That's funny considering that I have an unRAID "Faulty" Tower since I messed up something after I tried upgrading to the latest beta: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14835.0 Still trying to fix it so any help will be welcome! Takkie1970
Hi Xavier, Am planning on using the same case for my unraid rig. Did you do anything to the case to make the 5 in3 bays fit? Cannot find the answer in the forum. Quote Link to comment
xbonell
Hi Takkie, in order to fit the 5in3 cages I had to bend the metal tabs out of the way in the 5.25 bays. It wasn't difficult but it took some time because there were lots of tabs. Check this thread for some methods for removing/bending the tabs, the C-clamp method worked for me: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14910.0 Hope it helps! Quote Link to comment
Johnm
the tabs on this case are a little shorter then most so it made for an interesting time to get them started, but the metal is also a little softer then most cases in that region. so it makes that a bit easier once you get started. err is that a cookie monster skin rug? that is so wrong oh, yeah, nice build. i love that case...
