I'm looking for some hints how to improve my current unraid server.

 

Current setting is:

 

Motherboard: MSI B350M MORTAR

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600

RAM: 16 GiB DDR4

HDDs: 4 WD red 4TB

SSD: Samsung 850 evo 500GB

 

Currently my idle consumption is 52W (HDDs spin off)

 

I had to disable most of power saving setting in bios otherwise system crash

 

Powertop shows C1 state 16% and C2 84%

 

Do you think replacing Ryzen 1600 with 4350G (about 110€) allows me to improve C states? Or would be better to move on N100 motherboard? (overall price MB+RAM about 160€)

 

what could be expected idle consumption for the 2 options?

All depends on your system configuration and components.

Intel is the default choice for power efficient systems.

What power settings did you disable in the BIOS?

 

I have a spare ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4 with a Ryzen 1600 I am running as a Unradi server. But I have a problem between 10 to 12 hours running after it completed it drive checks, It seems to go unresponsive, and so I have to reset and start it up again and it check the store again.

 

I just want to use what I have, I don't want to buy anything new, so these option might just help me get mine stable.
