UNRAID (6.12.4) not booting after initiating restart

Recommended Posts

Here’s the story: I was away on a work trip and noticed I couldn’t access my server remotely. WireGuard (on the unraid server) still worked and I can access other network services fine. Eventually, I used teamviewer to connect to a desktop pc back home and was able to access the unraid dashboard through that PC.

I noticed the RAM usage was at >90%. The normal usage hovers at around 30% so that was very odd. I stopped dockers, VMs , and the array then rebooted the server. That’s when I could no longer connect to the server. I thought I might have hit shut down instead of restart. When I got home, the machine was on so it did restart. However, I cannot connect to unraid.

I run a Ryzen build w/o integrated graphics. I put in an old Radeon RX570 and hooked it up to a monitor. There is no signal to the monitor when I turn the machine on. I can't tell if the GPU is a dud or if something else is wrong.

I plugged the boot USB into a different machine and could see the contents.

When trying to boot in to the USB drive, I got this: Image

I ran a diskcheck in windows:

Windows is verifying files and folders...
File and folder verification is complete.
Convert lost chains to files (Y/N)? y
Insufficient disk space to recover lost data.
2240544 KB in 279173 recovered files.
Windows found problems with the file system that could not be corrected.
15,104,584 KB total disk space.
200 KB in 3 hidden files.
1,096 KB in 97 folders.
1,266,984 KB in 20,479 files.
11,676,256 KB are available.
8,192 bytes in each allocation unit.
1,888,073 total allocation units on disk.
1,459,532 allocation units available on disk.

Looking at the logs, it seems to be somewhat related to this problem except I can't get UNRAID to restart:

My drives are encrypted, is there a way to get files off of them while unraid is not working?

-what I've tried-

Turn on machine without unraid boot USB (no signal output)

Switched hdmi cables

Switched ports on the gpu

Switched ports on the monitor

Disconnected HBA card

Disconnected cache drive

-to do-

Today, I'll try to move that RX570 to a different machine to make sure it's functional.

Check RAM sticks

Any other suggestions or insights would be appreciated.
