Unraid is crashing constantly

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I am new to Unraid and i am very interested to use it as my own server.
I have a major problem with it : Unraid crash randomly (every 2-3h). Before i had a proxmox server constantly ON.
At the begining i thought it was my USB key so I bought a Samsung usb key
I disconnected all of my drives (SSD as a cache and 2 HDD as Array) and let the system going by itself but it still crash...

When the OS crash, the server is still running..
I saw some topics so I activated a syslog (see the attatchment).
I'll hope that I gave a lot of information..

Regards,
Lizix

Hello,

Thanks, I desactivated OC on my RAM (3 200 MHz -> 2 133 MHz).
I'll wait and I'll change the post to SOLVED if it doesnt crash in some days.

Thanks for your responsiveness.

Hello,

The problem is persisting.. The Unraid reboot itself and sometime (i think) it can't so I have to reboot it by myself.
I desactivated the C-States + OC of RAM + I changed "Power Supply Idle Control" to "typical current idle".
I also tested the ram with the memtest and it passed.
The are the syslog + the diag attached to the message.

Regards

While I wrote, the system crashed and it didn't reboot.
I took a picture of what I have.

Hello,

The syslog file that I gave you is from the syslog server ( I save the logs in the isb key).
Do I have to create a syslog server

Regards

The syslog in your first post contains about a minute of entries during bootup.

Same for that syslog(2) you posted later except for one additional line a few minutes later.

Maybe read the docs on syslog server again.

That's how i setup the syslog server image.png.3b141ebfd08fd7bb133652a57fe9c360.png

With those settings the syslog file that survives a reboot will be put into the 'logs' folder on the flash drive.

Yes, the syslogs files that i gave before were from the 'logs' file on the usb key

Then that is strange as if that was the case they should have included information from before the crash whereas they seemed to only include information since the last boot.

The server just crashed, i looked at the syslog-previous and the last line is my connection by the Web..
I can give you both logs files.

syslog-previous syslog

Both of those are just after reboot. How did you get them?

It doesn't seem like we have gotten any syslogs from before reboot, unless all you are doing is rebooting and then it crashes before you do anything else with the server.

When I have the problem, the server is rebooting itself (only the Unraid, not the server) or the server freeze ( like the picture i sent earlier ) and the only thing I can do is to shut it down and start it.

I got them on the USB key, look at the picture : image.thumb.png.7f1acdd7d09d67ba6b1e603796c6cee9.png

I don't understand what you mean. Unraid will not reboot itself. Whether or not the server will reboot itself after a power loss is a BIOS setting.

How long does Unraid run after you boot?

It is random, it can run 10 min or some hours...

Server rebooting on its own, versus hanging or crashing, usually always means a hardware (or power) problem, and not surprisingly, there's nothing relevant logged in the syslog.

Ok, thanks, so I have to change the PSU ?
I has a proxmox server for years and it works very fine.
Thats weird that a problem came when I use unraid...
