loki_racer Posted February 9 Share Posted February 9 I believe that I have searched for all the solutions that I can possibly search for and haven't found an answer. I am on Unraid v6.12.4 and have an AMD RX480 that I am passing through. The passthrough seems to work, as it displays in Device Manger of the Windows 11 VM. But, if you look in the screenshot at the bottom right, you will see that it says no audio device installed. I installed the Radeon driver for my RX480. When I open the Radeon app, it gives me the alert at the top of the following screenshot. Going to that URL, it had me download the AMD Software Compatibility Tool. I downloaded that and ran it, and I get the alert message seen at the bottom of the screenshot. Here is my VM config: Here's a screenshot confirming I did the "Bind Selected to VFIO at Boot". Something to note, I have an Nvidia GPU installed as well, but it's currently used by a Plex docker container. I mention it in the event that mixing cards like this is the issue, but I doubt it. Here are the VFIO PCI logs It seems, in my unskilled opinion, that Windows has access to the GPU (and potentially the audio, since it's the came card as the GPU), but the AMD drivers can't figure out which GPU I have installed. loki_racer Posted February 9 Author Share Posted February 9 I do not have anything connected to the GPU. I plan on using it for game streaming via Sunshine/Moonlight. I haven't installed any of the game streaming stuff, as I'm waiting until I figure out the GPU drivers. Good to know though that it will say no audio device installed until I plugin a monitor. Shouldn't it at least list an audio device in the Device Manager though? Quote Link to comment

I deleted the entire VM and started again, this time with an HDMI cable plugged into a monitor. The results are the same. I can't install AMD drivers and it says no audio output device. loki_racer Posted February 10 Author Share Posted February 10 Something I have noticed, is that if I configure the VM from the start to have the primary graphics card as Virtual, and the AMD GPU as secondary, the XML for the VM contains a <graphics> and a <video> block. <graphics> for the Virtual and <video> for the GPU. I suspect you need to change to multifunction as AMD expects them to be on the same bus. Windows sees and uses the AMD GPU because I can see the OS running on the connected monitor. A few changes I made to the VM's XML, I added the GPU BIOS and I disabled the Radeon TOP plugin. I think this was what was causing some of the issues. BIOS setting, mine was "enabled", once change that to "disabled", everything worked flawlessly. I also disabled Re-size Bar. For future reference, in summary: 1) deleted the AMD 1st party driver, use the open source amdgpu driver shipped with Ubuntu, and 2) disable "4g decoding" in BIOS. Solution loki_racer Posted February 13 Author Solution Share Posted February 13 Ok, I believe I have everything up and running. The final step was that the AMD "unified" driver package doesn't work. I download the driver specific to my card, and it seems like everything is working now. I have audio, and when I stream a game, it appears to be using the GPU. The graphics aren't stellar when streaming through moonlight and sunshine, but I'm sure I need to tweak some settings. Quote Link to comment
