Featured Replies

So after 3 years my USB has failed, as i needed server back asap i just used an old one lying about which is quite large, my old one was a small stubby one. I have ordered new samsung stubby drive and arriving today, my question is will i be allowed to change again is such a small period of time ??

That larger 'old one' may last longer than the 'small stubby one' due to it ability to better dissipate heat and thus run at a cooler temperature.

The issue of USB sticks is an annoying one. They break every few months and you have no way of getting the system up and running in the shortest possible time. The longest time is needed to change the license via support. The restoration itself only takes a few minutes. Why is there no quick solution for this? I am currently having this problem again.

I have some Unraid servers using flash drives which are now over 15 years old, they are still 1GB, will need to upgrade them soon since that's no longer enough for the online upgrade.

I wish you every success in finding a USB stick that is as high quality as your old sticks. The sticks used to be more expensive but the quality was good. Today it is very difficult to find good sticks. My test continues. However, I'm also considering switching to another solution where I don't have to contact support for the license transfer.

I agree with that, but you can still find good ones, personally I like the Sandisk Cruzer Blade 32gb, one of the few remaining USB 2.0 flash drives, and they've been very reliable for me.

Many thanks for the tip. At the moment I only have SanDisk Cruzer Snap (USB 2.0). I had read that they are supposed to be quite good. I've had them in my drawer for a while.

But I have now also ordered one of the SanDisk Cruzer Blade.
