max_verlaufen
I got a good deal on a HP ProDesk 400 G6. Figured I could use it to get into unraid. Bought a license, got two Transcend JetFlash USBs and some HDDs and got to work. My problem is, that the PC won't recognize the USB as a bootable device. I tried close to every BIOS Setting. Legacy Support enabled, disabled Secure boot off, on Fast boot off, on TPM off, on Disable all other boot devices Combination off all of the above of course (I figured Legacy on, Secure and Fast Boot off, TMP off should be the winning combo, but well it's not) I created the USB with the unraid tool, manually, with rufus and then copy paste the files. Nothing. Tried it with EFI- and without the dash. I tried different USBs. I created a Win10 bootable stick with the windows media creation tool and it booted fine. I then replaced it's files with unraids ones and renamed the drive to UNRAID. This worked once. I got the server online, registered my licence, decided to add another drive and turned it off and now it's back to not working again. Tried switching USB ports (all of them), not working. What could possibly cause this? Does anyone have any further insights? I'm this close to getting different hardware or just cutting my losses. Quote Link to comment
max_verlaufen
No ideas at all? I also updated the BIOS and restored it to default settings. Nothing... Is it possbile, that it just can't be done on this machine? Anyone using similar hardware? Quote Link to comment
Vr2Io
You need enable USB_Boot too. But HP BIOS may have UEFI boot problem with Unraid, you could try press F9 ( take a photo for ref. ) and use "Boot from EFI file" to boot Unraid in UEFI. Edited March 15 by Vr2Io Quote Link to comment
max_verlaufen
USB_Boot is not an available option. I got USB Storage Boot, which is enabled. If I try to boot from a file the machine says "No media present." It simply won't recognize USB drives with unraid on it. Edited March 15 by max_verlaufen Quote Link to comment
Vr2Io
Then you may try format the USB in FAT32 / NTFS. Quote Link to comment
planetwilson
I have a Prodesk 400 G6 and mine is booting fine off a USB stick with EFI for unraid. Let me know if there is anything you need me to check. Mine is the mini tower for reference. Quote Link to comment
