Rajahal Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Are you trying to manually delete folders, change permissions, etc. via Telnet or at the system console? If so, then the answer is simple - the syntax you are entering is incorrect. If you have been doing all of the above through a client computer's GUI (Windows/Mac/Linux), then this is a bit odd. If this is the case, please describe your client computer. Do you use User Shares, Disk Shares, or both? The 'duplicate object' error is something that unRAID does on its own. User Shares will only show the first instance of a file unRAID finds (starting with the lowest numbered disk, disk1, and working its way up). unRAID determined that the file /mnt/disk3/Videos/etc.avi exists on an earlier disk (disk 1 or 2). This is easy to fix - go into disk3 (you will have to enable/export disk shares first if you don't normally use them - check the unRAID Shares page) and delete the duplicate file. If you believe the file is not actually a duplicate and is a file that you want to keep, then you'll need to rename it to something else. Once renamed the file will show up in your Videos User Share like normal. Based on the name of that file, I'm guessing that it might be some sort of metadata file or something that you don't really need. Best to check it first just to be sure, though. Please post your full syslog as it may contain some clues about the first two errors. I agree that a wiki page that explains various common syslog entries is a good idea. However, that is a daunting task - many syslog entries are particular to your hardware configuration, and aren't applicable to the general unRAID community. Still, maybe a syslog translator that just focuses on the unRAID-specific entries could still work... If I have time, I may spearhead that project.

I am thinking something along the lines of Syslog for dummies. Maybe then we stand a shot at figuring out a problem before having to post a new topic

Raj i use total commander in my win7 session and also i delete files and directories through GBPVR, i would rather not post my syslog. So thanks for any help then.

Delete your duplicates let me REPHRASE the question is there anyway to stop it from happening in the future or is it a type of bug with unRAID.. ?
dgaschk Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 It's something that your doing that creates the duplicates. I've never had one.

Delete your duplicates let me REPHRASE the question is there anyway to stop it from happening in the future or is it a type of bug with unRAID.. ? I believe it a part of unRaids error handling feature. It makes a note of the incident but its not going to crash your server. It will/can fill your syslog but it isn't really harmful. I use a mapping program for Minecraft that saves thousands of tiny .png files to my server in folders labeled "A,B,C,D ect". Then the files are labeled "1,2,3,4,5 ect". If any of the folders are split across drives I get tons of these errors. Thats why the minor error filter in unmenu is so nice. Just filter it out. Not a bug but a deliberate, albeit irritating valid error handler. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

642 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Raj i use total commander in my win7 session and ... Hello, I have exactly the same problem. On each session in which I manipulate files with total commander (v7.56a) I encounter a lot of error messages like those of abs0lut.zer0 shfs_setxattr: setxattr: /mnt/disk1/Zardoz/Some/Vnk/a/RB'Neds' (95) Operation not supported (Drive related) Jan 1 16:36:30 Tower shfs: shfs_rmdir: rmdir: /mnt/disk1/Zardoz/Some/Vnk/new/RB100229 (39) Directory not empty Jan 1 16:36:30 Tower shfs: shfs_rmdir: rmdir: /mnt/disk1/Zardoz/Some/Vnk/new/RB100229 (39) Directory not empty Jan 1 16:37:49 Tower shfs: shfs_setxattr: setxattr: /mnt/disk1/Zardoz/Some/Vnk/a/RB'Ash' (95) Operation not supported Worse : It seems that because of those problems I have a lot of trouble with cache_dirs. What's the trouble with total commander?
