Vynce
Does anyone have any comments on the Cooler Master Centurion 590 case? It looks like it could be a nice alternative to the Stacker. Eight 120mm fan mounts is a bit overkill for a NAS though . http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?language=en&act=detail&tbcate=17&id=3927 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119152 Quote Link to comment
WeeboTech
I just bought one. I love it. I was actually going to recommend this case to Tom as alternate. I'm planning on using some Trayless SATA removables, but plan to take off the 40MM fans and add the full amount of low RPM 120MM fans. With enough fans pulling air into the case I would not need the tiny fans on the trayless SATA removables and I believe it will keep the whole environment cool enough. There is a vent underneath and on the right side that I'll probably have to tape up to create the right suction from the front. It's a nice size/layout mid tower. I also purchased the Thermaltake Armor with the side window (there was a really nice rebate). I think the Centurion 590 lends itself much better for unRaid I also have the coolermaster stacker. As nice as that is. It's just a lil too big. (My use for it was a special development station where I'm constantly changing out parts). Quote Link to comment
limetech
Yes it does look like a nice case. Can you remove the top power/reset/usb panel and gain a 10th slot? Also, be sure to report how those Trayless drive cages work out with the fans removed! Quote Link to comment
WeeboTech
You cannot remove the top part to gain the extra slot. *sigh*. It's still a nice mid tower case. With the 2 in 3 Trayless SATA removables I figure you can get 4 units of 3 drives for a total of 12 drives. That leaves one slot left for a different trayless SATA yielding a total of 13 drives. Not to shabby for a small mid tower case. With the 4 in 3 Trayless SATA removables you get a total of 12 drives (Still not to shabby. If you use the single 5.25 trayless SATA you'll get a total of nine drives. sicfreak
I have this case and love it. After putting in 3 of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817332011 I could not be happier. Quote Link to comment
Copey
My only criticism of this case is the noise caused by the psu fan being mounted underneath. It seems to resonate off the hard surface its close too... your unlikely to put this down on carpet are you!! Im going to put half a squash ball under each foot to try and raise it up a bit and see if the noise changes. Quote Link to comment
WeeboTech
> Im going to put half a squash ball under each foot to try and raise it up a bit and see if the noise changes. What a great idea. Think I'm going to try that one out too! I read others had a similar complaint. I also used the VANTEC VDK-120 120MM Fan Vibration Dampener Kit on the top fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999211 I taped up all other holes with clear packing tape so only the front trayless trays are the inlet of air. I'm pretty happy with the case. I'm about to order another. Quote Link to comment
Vynce
It might be possible to mount the PSU upside down so that the fan draws air from inside the case. I don't know if that will help with the noise, but it's something to try. Quote Link to comment

I don't know if that will help with the noise, but it's something to try. It is possible, at least it was with my Seasonic. I did not like the fact that it drew air from the floor via a vent. I taped the vent up and turned the power supply upside down so it pulls air from inside the case from the side of the cards. One point I really like about this case along with the AB9 PRO. Since i used clear tape to cover up the side vents, I'm able to look inside the case from an angle and read the LED POST CODES. I'm sure a window would be better, yet I would still like the option to mount two more 120MM fans if need be... although I really do not see that happening, The two fans at the top do not push out too much air because of the negative air pressure already. I believe this to be the taped vents on the front. Until I have enough drives, I've kept the vents taped on the front. With the current pricing of the 1TB drives, I'll have all 9 slots filled and will really know how the fanless trayless SATA modules work. Quote Link to comment
jasper9890
There are a bunch of new reviews out on some hardware sites of this case these days (sorry no links handy, use google). Just ordered one myself. Quote Link to comment
