June 29, 20242 yr Community Expert The current documentation fools you by telling you that doing a new config will set the array type to "none". Instead you need to go to the Array Tab and set the slot size to "none". Then you will be allowed to start the array without any disks. (and if you do the Array Tab vanishes completely but will return once you "stop the array" again). This is not really intuitive, think about it.

It also says "For new installs, the default number of slots to reserve for the unRAID array is now 'none'." and THAT is wrong! Or is there a major difference between a "new install" and a "new config" (with do not keep anything) ?

It's not wrong, if you start with a flash drive and a stock 7.0.0-beta.1 install the array slots will be set to 0, though that zip is currently not available, it will be for 7.0.0 stable.

A major difference is that one typically uses the New Config tool any intend to keep drives in the main array. This is different to never having had drives there in the first place which is the case with a new install.
