Mover doesn't seem to be working as it should

Featured Replies

Hi all

Firstly I'm not sure if this is a bug related to the 7.0.0beta but in case it isn't and is instead a mistake that I've made, which is more likely, I've posted this is this section.

Only just upgraded to the latest beta, everything was working properly beforehand. I have two cache's, one is called cache and one is shared. I have a share called 'Data' which is set so that files first go onto the shared drive and are moved to the array when Mover does its thing.

For some reason, Mover isn't moving anything from the shared drive. Instead it's just filling up. Diagnostics zip is attached.

Have you checked whether Mover works if you boot in Safe Mode so that no plugins are loaded?

There is a known problem with Mover Tuning and that release.   Have you taken the workaround mentioned for that plugin?

Thank you for the tip. I can confirm that Mover works as it should when run in Safe Mode. I wasn't aware there was an issue with Mover in this release. I understand that there is a new release now, but when I checked the notes for it I don't remember seeing a fix mentioned for Mover. Do you happen to know if it's now fixed?

The issue was not with Mover, but with the Mover Tuning plugin.   Release notes will not mention most plugin issues as they are the responsibility of the 3rd party that creates and maintains them.

That was the prime reasons for creating the 'safe Mode' boot option in the first place as plugins have full access to the Unraid OS in RAM and can install components that can break the current Unraid release.   Normally such issues get fixed during the early beta release phases  and the plugin updated appropriately.

I still seem to have an issue. All plug ins have been updated and I'm on the latest beta.2. Even when booted into safe mode Mover won't work.

I would suggest you make sure that the Mover Tuning plugin is uninstalled (rebooting if necessary); turn on mover logging; attempt to start mover from the Main tab; and then if mover is still not working take new diagnostics and post them here.

Can confirm I had exact same issue, removed Mover Tuning plugin and mover worked.
