October 28, 20241 yr Author Safe to assume its the CPU again then? another call trace after 16 hours of parity checking, heres the logs again. diagnostics after the call trace: Edited November 9, 20241 yr by MammothJerk
October 28, 20241 yr Community Expert Can't say that the CPU is the problem, only that is likely hardware related.
February 12, 20251 yr Author Are these CPUs really only supposed to last for 3 months and then break? or am i getting extremely unlucky with the SKUs? This is now my 3rd broken 14900k throwing segfaults and kernel panics after 2-3 months of usage and it's starting to feel like i should completely step away from this setup and get something more reliable...
March 12, 20251 yr Author 10 days later i got another segfault... hopefully a fluke.... Mar 12 16:39:13 Tower kernel: inotifywait[80561]: segfault at 0 ip 000000000040288b sp 00007ffc253d0550 error 4 in inotifywait[402000+2000] likely on CPU 3 (core 4, socket 0) Edited March 12, 20251 yr by MammothJerk

The scarcity of reports from other people here in the forum is as close to 0 as one can possibly ever get. It's the hardware. It's always the hardware.

April 2, 20251 yr Author after a month of usage without issues (other than the inotify segfault) i just got another full on crash, nothing in the syslog IPMI logged an OS_stop event Quote April 2025 11 minutes ago ID: 1956 Unknown sensor of type os_stop_or_shutdown logged a run time critical stop asserted on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025, 6:41:10 pm 🫠 Edited April 2, 20251 yr by MammothJerk
