Having issues with LSI 9211-8i 6G SAS HBA FW:P20 IT Mode

Featured Replies

Hello-

I just installed an  LSI 9211-8i 6G SAS HBA FW:P20 IT Mode controller card and am having issues. When I add a card in unRaid, I first do a pre-clear and format in  xfs. I then add it to the array where for some reason, it changes the format to "auto" and states that it can't be added. I managed to get one of my drives to be added in "xfs" but it shows as "disabled".

Is there some special magic I am missing?

Oh, I am using Version: 6.12.6 of unRaid

Thanks

Did you format the new drive ?

Is there something I'm missing?

If you format a precleared disk, it is no longer clear. So when you add it to the array, Unraid has to clear it so parity remains valid.

You must let Unraid format the disk AFTER you add it to the array.

OK, so the one that IS formatted in xfs, but still shows "disabled", how can I enable it?

I just went through the steps again, this time letting unRaid format, and it once again formatted it as "auto"  and it cannot be used.

SMART for disk7 looks terrible, run an extended SMART test.

It's an older replaced disk I was hoping to reuse.

No dice I guess. The SMART scan fails.
