May 4, 201214 yr Well, I was doing some hardware moving and inadvertently destroyed 2 drives (dumbass move, so don't ask). They're dead. I tried to see if they would be recognized by my Windows box, but they don't even appear. I know they're totally dead. So it's time to move on. How do I get my array back up and running? It won't come up (invalid configuration) even though I did change those 2 drives to unassigned.
May 4, 201214 yr I assume the array is stopped, if not, stop it. telent prompt, type initconfig then you should be able to bring up the array and parity rebuild will start. You will be protected again once the rebuild completes

Perhaps you can still save your data by swapping boards with a known working drive of the same model? I've done this before on my own drives, and even helped save someone's business because I really hate seeing data loss. It even worked once to recover data off a "click-of-death" Seagate 750GB drive. I typically get spare drives (older drives) off E-bay ... I would guess you don't want to risk any of your other drives.
May 5, 201214 yr Author The 2 drives held BR rips and tv shows. I have backups for the BR rips. I have access to the shows I want to replace. Some, like the 1980 series Galactica I won't bother with. This gave me the excuse to pick up a couple 4TB drives and move to v5.
