Cache Pool Set Wrong Somewhere, Non Reads or Writes

Featured Replies

I have a pool of two 1TB nvme drives. I setup a share called media and it is set to Primary storage Cache, Secondary Storage array. Fillup. Included disks 3, excluded disks(s) Disk 1, Disk 2. Mover action Cache > Array.

Prior to turning on the cache in the above settings I wrote straight to the array. I was getting around 50mb/s. Now ironically I am at 34 mb/s. No reads or writes to the cache.

Not sure what I set wrong?

I have the diagnostics log. Is the zip file something you just attach in this thread? New to UnRaid. Only been a paid subscriber less than 24 hours. :-)

The link to diagnostics states there is no PII . Can you confirm that is still the case today?

I know the problem is not the software. It is apparently in my setup. Below are the only three settings I have touched to try to get cache to work.

You attach the zip to the thread.

Do not set both inclusions and exclusions. Use only the one that's the easiest to set.

Thank you for that tip! I've gone back and just went with the included disk(s) and unchecked the excluded disks.

Ran my problem with the cache by my co-worker who got me started with UnRaid. He is looking to find a YouTube video which will cover it. I found one really good video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ij8AOEF1pTU), but he did not cover exactly my situation. Just trying to use cache to speed up copying movie files. In my case from an USB external drive to my disk 4.

You still need to provide the diagnostics zip file for us to try and see if we can spot an issue.

Well, here is the solution that was provided to me. "Your setup is fine. It's your copy command that needs to be changed. You need to copy to /mnt/user/share-name instead of directly to disk4."

It is working now and speeds are much better. :-)
