Error on SSD in dashboard but no errors with SMART

Featured Replies

I'm new to Unraid and got a problem when I got the server going. In the dashboard I have an error on a SSD "Unassigned has 1 SMART error."

But when I go to the SSD and check the Self-test the result is "Completed without error".

I fined one yellow line in the Attributes but I'm unsure what it means

Does anyone know, do I have to relplace the SSD with a new one or is it safe to use it?

All storage devices have extra sectors that they will use to automatically reallocate a sector that no longer works correctly.

If it keeps increasing, or gets above your comfort level then replace it. But the threshold isn't even close to being hit yet.

Use it but keep an eye on the values. If reallocated sectors increase more and more, its time to exchange the drive.

But for now it looks harmless, its normal that drives have a few bad sectors. There are spare ones that are automatically remapped and used instead.

You can also click the thumbs down to acknowledge the current value, and then you get a notification/new thumbs down if it increases.

Thanks for the great answers, they are really helpful! I will keep a sharp eye on the amount of reallocated sectors when they keep increasing.
