'Case-insensitive Share name is not unique' error and Windows SMB Shares no longer working

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just upgraded my unraid system to v7.2.0 from the previous version. I am now having problems with some of my shares (not all). In some of the shares set-up page I am getting an error 'Case-insensitive Share name is not unique'. I can confirm each of my shares has a unique name. In addition for the shares where this error exists the SMB Windows share doesn't work on my PC with the error 'Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use'. Can anyone assist me please, your help would be appreciated?

From your Diagnostics file:

I would begin with the d---------s files group. Please note that Linux is case sensitive and Windows is not, So if you have two resources with names like Media and media, Windows will only show one of them!

You need to make sure the case of the .cfg files in the ‘shares’ folder on the flash drive is the same as the folders on your drives that make up the share. A mismatch can cause your symptoms.
