I stop array, start in maintenance mode (with disk1 no selected? if i select it i believe it starts the rebuild). then go to main, click disk3, down to check filesystem? (haha I'm still scared sorry)

Sort of, I have the original disk3 from a few months ago when i upgraded that too. Disks 3 and 4 are mostly backups for other stuff so if I have to format wont be the end of the world. The stuff on disk1 is all i am really worried about

Going to stop the array until I get home from workPhase 1 - find and verify superblock... couldn't verify primary superblock - not enough secondary superblocks with matching geometry !!! attempting to find secondary superblock... .............. ...found candidate secondary superblock... verified secondary superblock... would write modified primary superblock Primary superblock would have been modified. Cannot proceed further in no_modify mode. Exiting now. Now there is the option to "Fix, file system corrupted". Is the next step to try the fix? Is it really dumb I'm debating trying to make a backup of what is on disk3 (that is currently emulated), just in case it nukes again? Again this data not the end of the world if I lose though.

January 30Jan 30 Author Thanks again gentsFix is in progress, noticed that under main it at least says xfs next to disk3 where it once said unmountable, so hopeful this does the trick. Even if it nukes the data, as long as it is stable I'll move onto disk1.For that... stop array, format disk1, then put it back into array, start in regular mode, let data rebuild? unsure if I need to do this part in maintenance mode as well Edited January 30Jan 30 by DiscoStu

January 31Jan 31 Author finished, and says fixed. I can't post all the results way too long but here is the end...Phase 5 - rebuild AG headers and trees... - reset superblock... Phase 6 - check inode connectivity... - resetting contents of realtime bitmap and summary inodes - traversing filesystem ... - traversal finished ... - moving disconnected inodes to lost+found ... Phase 7 - verify and correct link counts... Note - stripe unit (0) and width (0) were copied from a backup superblock. Please reset with mount -o sunit=,swidth= if necessary done discoraid-diagnostics-20260130-1908.zip

Nothing in lost+found.If you format emulated disk1, then assign a disk to that slot, it will rebuild disk1, but it will be empty of course since it has been formatted.Then you can mount original disk1 with Unassigned Devices and copy its data to the empty disk1.
January 31Jan 31 Community Expert Any time you format a disk, you must check the list of unmountable disks in Array Operation and make sure it only lists disks you want to format. If any other disks are listed as unmountable that you don't want to format, you need to check filesystem and repair, then check the list again before proceeding to format the disks you want to format.

I ran a smart test and checked the folders seems all good. Dumb question, is there a write up on how to read the diagnostics? I want to learn what you are reading and didn't find exactly that in your signature links.

I usually don't use the array much during rebuild or parity checks. Maybe just a small file occasionally. Anything going on in the pools will be fine, such as cached user share writes, dockers that aren't writing much to the array, etc. Most of my downloading goes to pools, for example, before it winds up on the array for long term.
