March 21Mar 21 Author Can you give me more information? What is broken? Is it only on the VMs tab? What are you trying to do?
March 21Mar 21 Its looking that this only by Folder View Plus Settings created Folders. When the Plugin new installed without Config become a Recommended to create a Docker/VM Folder. On Folders created from the VM or Docker Page its looked this: Edited March 21Mar 21 by Revan335
March 21Mar 21 Author Ohhhh, I see what you mean. When you create a new VM folder from settings, it doesn't let you click on or customize anything when switching to the VM tab. That's a bug I didn't realize, and I'll resolve it and let you know once I push a fix.

I pushed a fix in v2026.03.21.20 (main) for the fresh-config folder editor issue. What was fixedOn brand-new installs (no imported config), newly created folders could be saved but then opened in a “partial/sparse” state, which caused edit actions (custom icons and related controls) to fail or appear unresponsive. The latest release now normalizes new folder data before binding the editor UI, so Docker and VM folders created from a fresh config are fully editable. Please testUpdate to v2026.03.21.20Start with no imported configCreate a new Docker folder and a new VM folderOpen each folder’s Edit dialog and test:Built-in icon selection3rd-party/custom icon selectionRename + saveOptional nested child create/editIf it still fails, please share:A screenshot of the edit modalYour exact create path (Settings page vs Docker/VM tab)Browser/device usedHow to export config:Go to the Settings page > FolderView Plus > "EXPORT"
March 21Mar 21 Author Quick update for everyone:I just pushed a fresh install quality-of-life update to FolderView Plus (Version 2026.03.21.24).New for first-time users- Added a Templates action when no config/folders exist yet.- One click can create a starter folder set for Docker or VMs.- You can now pick exactly which templates to deploy from a checkbox pop-up.- Starter templates use built-in FolderView Plus icons.Fixes- Fixed popup alignment issues across host themes so template options render correctly.Images:

March 22Mar 22 Author FolderView Plus has had a major update since the last forum post, focused on fresh-install onboarding, smarter folder creation, better auto-assignment, VM parity, mobile fixes, and wizard polish.HighlightsAdded starter templates for fresh installs on both Docker and VMsAdded category-based template selection so new users can deploy logical starter folders fasterAdded a dedicated Templates step to the Setup AssistantGreatly improved smart detection / auto-assignment for existing containers and VMsSmart detection now uses stronger signals like:app/container nameimagecompose/template metadatabind pathslabelsbroader aliases and keyword matchingAdded confidence + review-needed handling, so weak matches are no longer silently shoved into fallback foldersWizard dialogs were cleaned up and now show clearer summaries for:created foldersauto-assigned itemsreview-needed itemsunmatched itemsverification resultsOther improvementsBetter Docker / VM feature parityBetter mobile behavior and iPhone-specific fixesBetter theme compatibility and light-theme handlingFixed plugin description/i18n placeholder issuesImproved folder-name handling, spacing, and clipping behaviorAdded stronger regression coverage so smart-detect and wizard behavior don’t driftThis release should make first-time setup much easier and make smart organization much more reliable for existing installs, too.If you test it, I’d especially like feedback on:starter-template onboardingwizard smart-detect accuracyDocker vs VM paritymobile behaviorcustom/light themes Edited March 22Mar 22 by XCrownedClownsX
March 22Mar 22 if i'm using an old folderview (i think folderview2?), is it as simple as installing this and it will automatically import all the settings i previously had? do i uninstall the folderview2 plugin first then install this from CA?

Export/back up your current FolderView config first if possible.2. Uninstall the old FolderView/FolderView2 plugin.3. Install FolderView Plus from CA.4. Open FolderView Plus settings and verify your folders/imported config.5. If anything does not come across cleanly, use the import/restore tools in FolderView Plus.So the short answer is:- Yes, it is designed to make migration from older FolderView versions easy.- but uninstall the old plugin first and make a backup/export before switching, just in case. Please let me know if you run into any errors or issues during the migration.

Do i just copy the "FolderView" folder in the appdata folder and keep a copy somewhere? I remember tinkering with files not just in appdata but in some sort of other directory, but it's been a while since i last messed with folderview

Additionaly backup the Docker/VM.json/xml Files in the App Folder. You can archived the App Folder to for a complete Backup from this.

Open Plugins > FolderView2.2. In the settings page, click Export All for Docker.3. If you also use VM folders, scroll to the VM section and export that too.4. Save the exported JSON file(s).5. Install FolderView Plus.6. Open FolderView Plus > Settings.7. Use Import and select the JSON you exported from FolderView2.8. Verify Docker folders first, then VM folders if you use them.If FolderView2 is broken and you cannot export from the UI- I could verify the fallback JSON path for the older Folder.View plugin: - /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/docker.json - /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/vm.json- I did not find a source explicitly documenting the equivalent on-disk JSON filenames for FolderView2, so the safest documented path is still exporting from the FolderView2 settings UI.Terminal fallback for old Folder.View onlyls -l /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/cp /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/docker.json /boot/config/plugins/docker-folderview-backup.jsoncp /boot/config/plugins/folder.view/vm.json /boot/config/plugins/vm-folderview-backup.json

Folderview PlusFolderview2
March 22Mar 22 Author The short answer is you can't; it defeats the point of FolderView Plus. I can create another custom dashboard view and call it "Legacy". That way, it only shows you the Docker containers/VMs individually and not the folders, if that helps.
March 22Mar 22 The icon picker is awesome!!! Great idea and thanks for implementing it!!!Question: Is there a way to disable the stop/started icons next to the container icons?I'm trying to get mine to look like this - icons ONLY:Thank you again!!!

Please let me know if that gives you the exact layout you want.
