Disk emulated

Featured Replies

Hey all

First of all, thanks for all the help so far )

I have a disk, now that I am back from holidays, thats made an error, or more.

I have the smart and dia here:

I hope they will help.

I have swapped the cable, and from what I see, the disk is fine? :) I am NOT the best at this, so I am very sorry if I have missed something or can seam a bit slow.

Could I just run a new config and see how it goes?

Thanks agian guys :)

Disk dropped offline; this is typically a power connection issue. SMART also looks OK, my suggestion would be to check/replace cables and rebuild, this assuming the emulated disk is still mounting as in the diags, and the contents look correct.

The fact that the disk is emulated means that a write to it failed for some reason so New Config is probably the best way to proceed ad you would lose any data written since it was disabled. Instead since the emulated disk seems to have mounted fine you should ne rebuilding it. If you think the disk is healthy then follow these instructions to do the rebuild.

In terms of checking disk health, the best way is to run the Extended SMART test (which the diagnostics show has not been done). If that completes without error the dtive is normally OK and the write failed due to an external factor.

Perfect.
All I have done is swap the cable, nothing else. I can swap the power aswell, if that might make a difference aswell.

Thanks so much :)

I will run the test right away! :)

It does take some time. Around 1.5 hours per TB is quite typical, and progress only gets updated in 10% intervals.

Yes, can see its 'slow' :D Its all good - rather a good reason to do the right thing here, then a quickfix thats not the right one.
I will let it run, and get back here when its done :)

From what I can tell, its all good? )
I have NOT changed the power to the disk yet, but I will if needed for sure! :) The sata cable for the drive was changed before the test was made.

If I can do a rebuild, can I just click this:

Just figure since I am not changing anything, that I can choose to preserve the current assignments? )
Thanks agian guys for all the help <3

No. If you use New Config then you can no longer do a rebuild.
