TV tuners? (HD, not HD, HDHomerun, PCI card, etc)

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, first time poster!

Got my box setup these past few days, still tweaking and preclearing and trying to figure out whether or not I'm gonna use a cache drive but that's all besides the point.

HD Tuner cards. I want to use the xbmc mythtv frontend on my appletv, for that I would need a mythtv backend. I am aware that unRAID doesn't run mythtv. I do remember reading that it does some sort of PVR backend.

Question is: What would be my best choice for tuner to make this happen? a cheap HD PCI card, HDHomerun (really don't need this much, all TVs have rokus and hd locals already plugged in), or what else?

With unRAID running that is (natively, not in ESXi or a VM or full slackware).

If my choices would be better with a full slackware install, that's fine too, I just want something that I'll be able to control somehow either through another computer, appletv1 (Crystalbuntu + XBMC), or what have you.

...if you want to go with unRAID and TV-Support as an add-on, the only thing I can remember so far that is do-able,

is running tvheadend, see here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14129.0

It seems to integrate into xbmc quite nicely I've heard.

...maybe the right/better place to ask is in the customization or applications section of the forum.?
