We're about at the point where you should attach a fresh syslog, hopefully one from start up through a point where you are having problems connecting by SMB. This thread goes back a ways, but am I correct in assuming you are now on V5.0.4?

 

If you haven't tried WireShark, the network analyzer, this might be a good time to try it. There's enough support and wizards available it seems pretty easy to install and get some usable results. I'm pretty sure you could also attach the capture file to a posting here for others to review.  http://www.wireshark.org/
