Brian B.
mostly yes, but they wont look too kindly on it if it's been obviously cracked open. Quote Link to comment
BLKMGK
They can be popped open without damage and there's no circuit board added to the drive to be removed. A few plastic tabs and it's open :-) You can find directions online to open them, when I looked I think I even found a Youtube video! Quote Link to comment
dragon123
Best buy will have the same sale on black friday: https://blackfriday.bestbuy.com/computers+amp+tablets3/product/5597959/seagate++backup+plus+3tb+external+usb+30+hard+drive Quote Link to comment
korith
Staples as well will have the same drive for sale at the same price. I'm still hoping some deals for actual 3tb internal drives with a decent warranty show up for black friday. Quote Link to comment
jamerson9
Just took one of these apart. It's not too bad to open, there is an easily found youtube video that should you how to open one up. I got the case cleanly open using a paint scraper and plastic card to lever the tabs. However, the inside metal shroud/case is attached by screws which are in turn covered by rubber pads which are glued/sticky taped on. This part wasn't shown on the video unfortunately. So, even if you could get the case off without breaking any tabs, unless you can seamlessly replace the glue/sticky pad, it is going to leave a tell-tale sign that the drive has been removed.
