I would be clicking on that 'Customize' link  shown in  "Control Panel 4.GIF" and see what options are there...

 

You have something very different somewhere in your setup.  If this were a common problem, the board would be filled with threads about it. 

 

 

Mapping is a viable option and will probably solve all of your problems.  (But I, personally, always hate having something not work that should work!!!  It always keeps nagging me until I solve the problem.)  The one thing you have to do is to be sure to map your flash drive to (at least) one of your computers so you can access the flash drive for backup purposes, updating and adding plug-ins.
