NTFS support?

Featured Replies

I find that there are times when the easiest way to transfer files from a Windows system is via an external USB disk.  However the RC8a release does not seem to have included support for the ntfs-3g module which means that NTFS formatted disks cannot be used for this purpose.  Is there any chance of a future release adding this module?

Thanks for that - it should get me going.

Would it still not make sense for the ntfs-3g package to be included in the standard unRAID install without the need to add it afterwards?

i would probably say no. it's not needed (and im guessing not used by many) and not really part of unraids design goal. i use a few plugins as well but they definitely shouldnt be standard.

Actually there is NTFS "read support" included in the unRaid linux kernel.  You should be able to mount your NTFS drive manually and then use the command line or MC to copy files off of it.

The problem is that the built-in NTFS support does not handle disks larger than 2TB.    You need the newer ntfs-3g support for 3TB/4TB disks.  I was hoping that would be the version supported in future to avoid the need to add it either manually or via something like unMenu.
