March 16, 201313 yr I connect my working data disk on my Windows 7, using YAReG but still not able to read the unFormatted disk as reported by Windows 7. What is the proper tool to read them ?
March 16, 201313 yr Hi bravob, I have been using the freeware linux reader from DiskInternals http://www.diskinternals.com/download/Linux_Reader.exe
March 16, 201313 yr Author I am using the same, but i cannot find my 1TB unraid disk or i cannot open the 1TB volume....
March 21, 201313 yr You could attempt mounting the disk (read-only) via a linux live cd using the same connection to see if linux sees it.
March 21, 201313 yr I use Total Commander with "Ext2+ Reiser" plugin. Worked great last time I used it.
March 21, 201313 yr Since you have been having trouble with this disk the partition table might be hosed. Try Start - All Programs - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Storage - Disk Management and see if it is showing any partitions. You should be able to see whether there are partitions on the drive without mounting it. Just be sure you don't tell Windows Disk Management to do anything with the partition.
April 2, 201313 yr Author In the disk management, it is showing as RAW... is it correct ? Note this is the working disk i removed from the UNRAID after upgrading the HDD, not the faulty 2TB.
April 16, 201313 yr In the disk management, it is showing as RAW... is it correct ?Yes, MS-Windows never recognizes linux disks
April 16, 201313 yr It's normal that Windows Disk Management won't show the contents of the disk (or even recognize the partition structure). But you should nevertheless be able to see it with the standalone Linux Reader from DiskInternals, as noted earlier. I use this frequently and it works fine with UnRAID disks. If you want Windows to "see" the disk via Windows Explorer, you need to install an "installable file system" driver for Linux: http://fs-driver.org/
