June 23, 201313 yr Hi there, I have tried to come to scour the internet for answers, but I can't get a clear answer it seem. I have read many reviews and have decided to get noctuas for my case. But I get mixed messages about which version to get: the F12 or the P12? Both PWM.. What do you guys recommend? F12 = http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=42&lng=en P12 = http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=43&lng=en
June 23, 201313 yr I'd get the F12 ... slightly better airflow and better static pressure. Not quite as quiet as the P12, but still very quiet.
June 24, 201313 yr I actually have both models on my 4224 120mm fan wall. A P12 in the middle, left over from an old build, and two F12s on the sides of the fan wall. I would have gone with all F12s, if I didn't already have that spare P12, for the reasons Gary mentioned. I tested both independently at full speed (I run them all at full speed all the time) and I couldn't hear a difference in the noise levels.
June 25, 201313 yr Your choice should be between the S12 and P12, the F12 is a non starter for the application of 4224 mid fan wall. Between the three, use the P12. The 9 blade fan will draw more through the tight spaces between drives, as indicated by the manufacturer http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=which_fan&lng=en The F12 is the focused flow, which sends an airstream directed at an object. So, if you want a fan to blow on a cpu radiator, ie http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=focused_flow_system , use the F12.

Perhaps I should swap the P12 on my CPU heatsink with one of the F12's on my fan wall then.
June 25, 201313 yr Author Interesting. Oddly enough I ordered 3 f12's but they went out of stock so only 2 will get shipped, this opens up for a p12 in the middle then. Thanks for your input guys. I started with stock fans, temps were between 31-33 c, totally acceptable, but the noise didn't work for me. And I cheaped out and replaced all fanns with Arctic PWM's. It's silent now, but temp are 5-7 degrees higher and peaks to 42 during parity. I'll let you know how it looks with the noctuas.

But F12 still has more static pressure than P12 (or S12) and since we are pulling air from backplanes in Norco case I would def go with F12, as "focused flow" has no role in pulling configuration... and F12 produces less noise..
