tucansam
I've read here: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual And have followed steps to upgrade my parity drive. I now want to use my old parity drive to replace my smallest disk. I've followed the steps and am at the point where I have upgraded my parity drive, reconstructed parity, ran a parity check, inserted my old parity drive in place of the disk I want to replace, powered up the machine, and configured the old parity disk in place of the old member disk in the drop down list. I now have a red ball and the word "wrong" listed next to my old parity disk, and it lists the old disk below it. Is this because unraid recognizes it as a parity disk? Should I preclear or format it first? Or is it just telling me it expected to see the old drive there, and I can just continue and start the array? Obviously its my first time doing this Sorry if this is a newbie FAQ, I've looked around a bit and the above link is the only thing I immediately saw, and I'd like to get this resolved as I am currently unsure what will happen when I start the array. Thanks to all. Link to comment
dgaschk
Do you see this message: "Start will bring the array on-line, start Data-Rebuild, and then expand the file system."? Link to comment
tucansam
Yep. That message is there. I'm good-to-go? Link to comment
tucansam
Now that its started and i have an orange ball next to the new (old) disk, I can click the "Rebuild" button? Or is it doing this automatically behind the scenes? Link to comment
tucansam
Thanks for all the help. Seems straight forward enough, just nerve wracking doing it for the first time! Link to comment
