September 28, 201312 yr Hello, I am having a read-only / corruption problem on some of my disks. I ran reiserfsk on my disks and found that disk2 has some problems. The log says this: reiserfsck --check started at Sat Sep 28 09:36:24 2013 ########### Replaying journal: Done. Bad nodes were found, Semantic pass skipped 7 found corruptions can be fixed only when running with --rebuild-tree Should I run rebuild-tree? The instructions say to run rebuild-tree only after asking for expert advice. I am running v 5.0 final pro and have 4 data disks, a parity and a cache.
September 29, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the reply. In what instances should you not run it? The instructions clearly state that it should be used with caution and ask for advice first...
September 29, 201312 yr Author Well after running with the -rebuild-tree switch, my disk 2 is showing that it is UNFORMATTED. What can I do to recover data?
September 29, 201312 yr Did the reiserfsck give any messages while it was running suggesting that files were being reovered?
September 29, 201312 yr Author looks like the first run did not complete. I am running it again. Is reiserfsk running on the server or client?
September 30, 201312 yr Author Is reiserfsk running on the server or client? The server. I am using putty to access the server and closing the terminal interrupts reiserfsk.... I let it run all night and it was able to complete this time. Mounting was successful. Cheers, G.
October 1, 201312 yr Thanks for the reply. In what instances should you not run it? The instructions clearly state that it should be used with caution and ask for advice first... If the device was not specified correctly. Many run reiserfsck on /dev/sda, for example. It's a sanity check before you totally screw the disk.
October 1, 201312 yr Thanks for the reply. In what instances should you not run it? The instructions clearly state that it should be used with caution and ask for advice first... If the device was not specified correctly. Many run reiserfsck on /dev/sda, for example. (a mistake, should be /dev/sda1 ) It's a sanity check before you totally screw the disk. If you use reiserfsck on the raw drives you WILL cause the corruption. Only use reiserfsck on the FIRST PARTITION of the drives, or (much better) on the /dev/mdX devices (which unRAID ties to the first partitions on the disks)
