November 17, 201312 yr I have a new setup like this: disk1 disk2 disk3 disk4 ... If I create a new user share "Videos", and leave everything blank, shouldn't unRAID add a "Videos" subfolder to each drive in the array? Currently I only get a folder in the first drive (disk1), I've tried to transfer files to the share via SMB but it seems to only try to fill up the first drive.
November 17, 201312 yr It depends on you allocation method, your split level, and how full your drives are. If your drives are nearly empty with an allocation method of hight water you probably won't see a share split across multiple drives until you have a drive over half full. If you have set your split level low you may never see a share split to another disk. Here is the unofficial unraid wiki that explains allocation methods and split levels. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual# Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
November 17, 201312 yr As noted, UnRAID uses the allocation method and split level you've assigned to determine which drive to write to -- and the default "high-water" won't start writing to a 2nd drive until the first one is half full. If you want to see all the drives used, use "most free" for the allocation method -- then, as long as the drives are all the same size, you'll see the drives all being used routinely.
