January 16, 201412 yr I was having problems connecting to my unraid server at work so i decided to upgrade from 4.7 to 5.0.4-i386. I followed the directions I believe. I properly shut down the array. I removed flash drive put it in win 7 comp i deleted the few files in config i think was just password files? then i replaced two in root directory bzroot and bzimage. took flash drive put back in server. booted up logged in via web array looked fine so started it then under util i did the new permissions thing. Took a long while to finish but it finished. I couldnt access the sever through network on win 7 comp but i could see all the user share folders just had no access to them. so i restarted server. then array needed to be started again so i did so. then i couldnt access it via web any longer. now when i try to access it via windows7 comp I can only see Flash share but i cannot access it. "//flash referes to a location that is unavailable...." Only think i can think of is force a reboot manually. I have a monitor hooked up to unraid with keyboard. Any ideas? Thanks
January 16, 201412 yr Could it be the change in access/security permissions for shares? As of 5.0, 'root' no longer sees shares by default...
January 16, 201412 yr so i restarted server. then array needed to be started again so i did so. then i couldnt access it via web any longer. How, exactly, did you restart the server? And when you say you were having problems before the upgrade, what do you mean? At any point did you save a syslog that might help show what the problem is?
January 16, 201412 yr Author Could it be the change in access/security permissions for shares? As of 5.0, 'root' no longer sees shares by default... Hey Dale I was thinking it has something to do with access/security permissions honestly. I just dont know enough about it to figure it out. How, exactly, did you restart the server? And when you say you were having problems before the upgrade, what do you mean? At any point did you save a syslog that might help show what the problem is? Hey Jonathan I believe i held the power button down on server until turned off...i know i know thats bad im pretty sure thats what i did though. Cant remember exactly sorry...I did not save a syslog. The problems i was having were accessing the server much like im having now but it was very intermittent. most times i could access it just fine Did you rerun makeboot, or whatever it's called, on the flash drive ? Hey dalben I know nothing about makeboot but ill look in to it... Just looked into makeboot. Do you just mean the makebootable.bat or whatever. If so with the upgrading from 4.7 to 5 i didnt see any instructions to adjust that so i never did anything with it. heres a current syslog... syslog.txt
January 16, 201412 yr Author Ok i deleted credentials. I cannot access the server via webgui i do not believe the array has been started. If i try to access it I can see the flash user and access it. is there a way i can start the array through the server itsself? **correction. I have my server link saved as a favorite. instead i just manually typed it in and it worked via browser..im in maintenance mode and its doing parity check...it did the check automatically i didnt start it
January 16, 201412 yr .im in maintenance mode and its doing parity check...it did the check automatically i didnt start it That's normal behaviour when you force a shutdown incorrectly. Let the parity check finish, then try to connect to your disks. In the mean time, you should probably pull a current syslog, zip it up and post it here.
January 16, 201412 yr Author I shall let parity finish. Once done should i try starting the array as normal? Here is latest syslog attached Syslog.zip
January 17, 201412 yr Author Parity Finished. 0 Errors. took out of maintenance and started array. i currently have access to my shares. Thanks
