syslog files outdated

I have two syslog files in my log folder in my boot dir.

 

both are outdated. the most recent one is 2/2/2014

there should be a constant updated log in there right?

If so how can I figure out why new log data isn't showing up in there?

 

the syslog in the webgui is up to date

 

I attached a log file (copied and pasted into txt file from the syslog page in the webgui)

    The log files on boot are just copies created during shutdown or reboot. The actual live log files are in RAMfs at /var/log/
