[SOLVED] Tower login: smbd: no process killed

Featured Replies

I was trying to copy about 100 GB files into my server and the system crashed.

So I had to reboot the server.

And now I getting the following:

"Tower login: smbd: no process killed"

It seems that 100GB file-copying was too much for the server.

I can not even log on to the server.

Pressing "tab" or "del" key is not working either.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sometimes things will continue to be output to the console after the login prompt, so it's not clear that

Tower login: smbd: no process killed
is a problem.

What do you mean tab and del are not working? Are you trying to get into the BIOS menu with those keys or what?

Or have you already booted into the unRAID console? Do any keys work?

When I boot the  sever, I see the following:

  Press DEL to  run Setup

Press TAB to display BIOS POST Message

  Press [Tab] to edit options

No response to any key pressed.

And after I received  "Tower login: smbd: no process killed",

there is no response when I type something.

How can I get out of this mess?

That last screenshot suggests you have got some sort of corruption on the USB stick.  You should connect it a PC/Mac to try and correct this.

I took the USB out but don't know how to correct this.

Do you know of any link to learn how to do this?

Thanks.

You just need to run checkdisk on it in a Windows machine. If you plug it in it will probably offer to fix it for you.

For Mac, I think you run Disk Utility on it.

Wow, after hours of fustration I came across your post... I had been seeing the windows computer try to fix a problem with the thumb drive but I kept ignoring (canceling) it because I was trying to figure out what I thought was a different problem...  so now it works great, thanks thanks thanks.
