(SOLVED) ASUS P8B75-M/CSA magic boot setting in bios?

Featured Replies

EDIT #3 - Couldn't get it to upgrade BIOS but finally found the magic setting. updated and unraid is booting - woowoo!

Hi gang,

Recently bought an ASUS  P8B75-M/CSA motherboard for my new build.

I have a USB w/ Unraid on it (trial) and I'm trying to boot but can't get past message

'Insert bootable media and hit Enter'

Anyone know of a magic setting in the bios that can help me out?

I've tried all of the suggested ones on the UNRAID OS install/config page .

Thanks!

You might help someone in the future if you would post what you found that made it boot.  ;)

Agree it would be more useful if you outlined exactly what you did.

Clearly it was just a matter of getting the USB flash device set to be the first boot item -- this is sometimes considered a "hard drive" that has to be first in the "hard drive order" menu; and sometimes listed as a separate device that simply needs to be first on the primary boot order listing.  It might be helpful to others with this board to know which you had to do.  [Although the fact is this sometimes changes depending on the specific USB flash drive you're using]

i have ASUS M5A78L-M LX Plus mobo with the same problem.  I cannot configure it to automatically boot from USB thumb drive when it is powered on.  i always have to enter "boot menu" and select "usb drive".  Thanks for posting the solution that worked for you.

Hi there,

Did you get this working for ya? Sorry I wasn't clear on what made my mobo work. I just had to upgrade the BIOS (latest stable) and my USB settings were automagic!

daquint,

I did not get this fixed and have re-purposed the PC (to test Windows 10 tech preview).  BUT, long term, I plan to use this spare PC for testing unRAID 6 beta.

Do I understand correctly that you configured BIOS to always boot from usb drive and the bios remembers this setting every time you boot?.  That is what I need.

Thanks for the followup reply.
